Help wanted: $78,000 a year to taste candy while sitting on your couch
Alexandra Peers
Candy Funhouse, an online shop that sells from chocolate bars to gummies and licorice, is hiring for a $78,000 a year, work-from-home job as its Chief Candy Officer. Duties include: “leading candy board meetings, being the head taste tester and all things fun. Several thousand candidates have already applied for the position”, said Chief Executive Officer Jamal Hejazi. He noted that he’s been surprised by the number of applications and the elaborate videos of entire families offering to share the tasting duties and the salary. (...) Candy Funhouse, based outside of Toronto, is headed by a quartet of 20-and-30-something-year-old siblings who grew up in the area and _______ parents owned donut shops and a local restaurant. (...) Hejazi noted that reports on social media claiming that the Chief Candy Officer will be required to eat 3,500 pieces of candy per month are incorrect. “That’s too many”, Hejazi said.

Uma question tag é a pergunta curta no fim de uma frase. A regra é: o verbo auxiliar da tag repete o da frase, e a polaridade se inverte. Frase afirmativa leva tag negativa, e frase negativa leva tag afirmativa.
A frase sublinhada é "That's too many", ou seja, That is too many.
- O verbo é to be ('s = is), então a tag usa is.
- A frase é afirmativa. Embora a ideia seja de exagero, too many não é uma negação gramatical.
- Por isso a tag deve ser negativa: isn't.
- O sujeito that é substituído por it na tag.
Resultado: That's too many, isn't it?
As opções com has ou hasn't não servem. Aqui 's é is, e não has, porque too many é um complemento e não há particípio depois de 's.
Alternativa C.
Pegadinha: A alternativa D engana quem lê 's como has; em That's too many, 's é is, então a tag é isn't it.
Por que as outras alternativas estão erradas
- AUsa tag afirmativa (is it?) depois de frase já afirmativa, quebrando a regra de polaridade oposta.
- BInterpreta 's como has e ainda usa tag afirmativa; o verbo é is.
- DInterpreta 's como has (hasn't it?), mas a frase é com to be, não com present perfect.
Assunto: Tempos verbais e verbos modais.
