On top of the World-Imagine Dragons

If you love somebody
Better tell them why they’re here cause
They just may run away from you
You will never know what went well
Then again it just depends on
How long of time is left for you
I’ve had the highest mountains
I’ve had the deepest rivers
You can have it all but not til you move it
Now take it in but don’t look down.

Resolução comentada

As palavras em destaque são the highest e the deepest, ambas retiradas do trecho "the highest mountains" e "the deepest rivers".

Primeiro, lembre os graus do adjetivo em inglês:

  1. Comparativo: compara dois elementos, com -er than ou more ... than (higher than).
  2. Superlativo: indica o grau máximo dentro de um grupo, com the + adjetivo com -est ou the most + adjetivo (the highest).
  3. Igualdade: usa as ... as (as high as).
  4. Futuro não é grau do adjetivo, é tempo verbal (will, going to).

Agora observe as formas do texto:

  • high → the highest (artigo the + sufixo -est)
  • deep → the deepest (artigo the + sufixo -est)

As duas têm o artigo the e o sufixo -est, e não há than nem as ... as. Essa estrutura é a do grau superlativo: as montanhas mais altas e os rios mais profundos.

Alternativa B.

Por que as outras alternativas estão erradas

  • AO comparativo usaria -er/more e than (higher than), e não the + -est.
  • CA igualdade exigiria a estrutura as + adjetivo + as, ausente no trecho.
  • DFuturo é tempo verbal e as palavras em destaque são adjetivos, sem will ou going to.
